Our History

The Westcountry Spice Company, which is an organic company, makes spice blends with inspirational flavours from around the world. 
All of which are organic, made in small batches with no additives or artificial colours or preservatives. All of our range is gluten and wheat free with the majority being Vegetarian as well. 

Our aim is to bring you products of excellent quality. For this reason · we make our products by hand, with care and in small quantities · we use local produce wherever possible · we use only the finest organic ingredients. No Bulk! Because we do not bulk out with rubbish, no added tomato or extra cheap onion and no flours, just high quality fresh spices. 

The whole range is also available in catering packs of 1kg, this will serve around 120-150 meals depending on how it is used. As well as the pastes we also make the "Worlds first Organic Ketjap Manis" A rich dark soy type sauce sweetened with molasses, and two other table sauces which, are authentic Vietnamese style used for adding to meals or directly dipping fruits or sea food into, "its delicious". Organic: The reasons we are organic is because we wanted to set a high standard of practice and production and keep to it. 

Being part of the Soil Association isn't just about a rubber stamp. It's a very strict code of practice. We are audited every year. As we specialise in making organic produce, our traceability is second to none. This means we know all of our growers and suppliers and they too have to adhere to the same standards laid down by the soil association for organic farming and production. Ensuring full trace ability throughout our industry is paramount so things like the Sudan One scare, where a highly toxic dye was used to enhance a foods appearance, just cant happen in our industry.

Benefits: There are many health benefits is many herbs and spices. Organic means some of the carcinogenic used in pesticides, which can cause cancer are kept well away from our ingredients.

· Not bulked out so better value for money Ingredients: 

It is important to us that we have a sustainable relationship with our suppliers. We seek to purchase as many ingredients from the UK as possible starting from the Westcountry and casting our net from further a field. Fair Trade: We believe in fair trade in both our country and others. This system has a recognised body associated with it. If a supplier has an association with the fair trade organisation, for say our spices, we will favour this supplier over another unless they can substantiate a traded fairly arrangement. Going Green: All our packaging is recyclable and or from recycled or sustainable sources. Packaging that comes to us will be re-used and or re-cycled. If produce has to come from overseas then it travels by sea. This is only a small part in helping the environment but we feel that every little helps.
